Above: Sitting Member Mark Coulton said he was pleased to draw the number two spot on the ballot paper.

Six candidates will contest the federal election in the seat of Parkes on Saturday, May 18.

Sitting Member, the Nationals’ Mark Coulton, will be challenged by Daniel Jones, Liberal Democrats, David Paull, Greens, Jack Ayoub, Labor, Will Landers, Independent, and Petrus Van Der Steen, Palmer United Party.

Mr Coulton won the seat of Parkes in 2007 and was re-elected in 2010. He has been Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment since March last year.

The Hunters, Shooters and Farmers Party which took the state electorate of Barwon from the Nationals at the recent election, is not fielding a Parkes candidate.

“With a total of six candidates vying for the seat of Parkes, I am looking forward to a strong contest of ideas and a productive debate” Mr Coulton said following the ballot position draw.
