Outenthused and arguably outplayed, Narrabri FC still managed to bring home three competition points on Saturday.

In round four of the 2019 Namoi Soccer League campaign Narrabri FC challenged Wee Waa United FC away from home.

A Todd Bailey strike in the 38th minute was the difference in the match as Narrabri FC moved into outright first position on the ladder.

Bailey ran on to a loose bouncing ball just outside the 18-yard-box and broke the deadlock with a venomous volley which flew over Wee Waa
goalkeeper Steve Phelps into the back of the net.

Narrabri FC took that 1-0 lead into half time and that was the way the score remained at full time following a scoreless second half.

The visitors almost doubled their lead just before half time when centre back Nathan Trindall rose highest to win a header from a Cooper Brayshaw corner, but the shot just flew over the crossbar.

Wee Waa pushed hard for an equaliser in the second stanza and had several chances to equalise.

But Narrabri FC’s backline led by Trindall stood up to keep the hosts at bay.

Narrabri FC coach Neil Brayshaw said that he was pleased that his side was able to win the match despite not performing at its best.

In the other round four match Moree Services FC One defeated Moree Services FC Two in the Moree derby.
