The 2019 NSW Country Junior Rugby Union Championships were held in Tamworth on the weekend.

Three age groups were contested throughout the weekend – under-12s, under-13s and under-14s.

Central North was represented in all three age divisions, and each Central North team featured multiple junior Blue Boars players.

Jonty Fowler, Archer Dalton, Sam Elms and Luke Lowick played in the 12s team, Luke Shields, Jack Smith and Mack Davies lined up for the 13s and Toby Michell-Smith, Don Watkins, Josh Briggs and Colby Davies competed for the 14s.

The campaign was a successful one for the under-12s and under-14s players.

Both the 12s and 14s won all four of their respective games to qualify for their grand finals where they were both narrowly defeated.

Individually the junior Blue Boars players were outstanding.

Jonty Fowler was awarded the best back in the under-12s age group across all of the zones, and also picked up the players’ player award for Central North.

Luke Shields was judged the best forward for Central North in the under-13s.

Under-14s players Josh Briggs and Don Watkins were standouts in their age group and both earned selection into the NSW Country under-14 2019 squad.
