2019 has been a great year for local golfer Josh Wilson, and Sunday’s Narrabri Open victory was another feather in the cap of the 20-year-old.

Wilson has won every Narrabri Golf Club monthly medal event this year and said that he felt confident heading into Sunday’s Open.

There were 98 golfers in action on the day, many who travelled to join local golfers to compete in the annual single stroke event.

Wilson shot a one-under-par 70 at the Narrabri Golf Club which was equal with his previous best score at his home course.

He had three birdies and two bogies on the day, and parred the other 13 holes.

He started the day on the third hole and parred holes three to six.

Wilson then birdied seven then parred holes eight to 12.

Those scores left him one-under-par after 10 holes.

Wilson then bogeyed hole 13 to move back to even par, but birdied the 14th and 15th holes to move to two-under-par.

A bogey on the 16th brought his score back to one-under-par, and that was the way it finished after he parred holes 17, 18, one and two.

Wilson’s 70 off the stick saw him beat fellow Narrabri golfer Luke Flood, the tournament’s A-grade nett winner who scored a three-over-par 74, by four shots.

Wilson said that all the practice and hard work he puts in each week contributed to his 2019 form and helped him secure victory on Sunday.

“I’ve been putting in a lot of practice and playing pretty solid lately,” Wilson told The Courier.
