The annual Science and Engineering Challenge has been staged at The Crossing Theatre for the past three days. The event has presented school students from Narrabri Shire and schools across the region with challenges and opportunities in the STEM – science, technology, electronics and maths world.

The Challenge, organised by Newcastle University every year since 2000, and supported in dozens of towns like Narrabri in co-operation with local Rotary clubs, sees hundreds of students from primary and high schools pit their skills against a variety of challenging projects.

Wedneday was a big day, with 256 primary school students taking part, Narrabri High School volunteers helped supervise activities over the three days.

Team leader Helen Beckit and Events Assistant Sarah Cooper were the co-ordinators of the event for the University.
