Hundreds of Narrabri Shire families rugged up and braved the cold weather to enjoy a big community night at The Golfie on Sunday.

A huge bonfire was the centrepiece for the free event titled ‘Time Out from the Drought’ which featured live music from three bands, a free barbecue from Narrabri Lions, entertainment for the kids and a fireworks display.

It was a traditional family night – cracker night in the old terminology – and a spectacular fireworks display did not disappoint.

The event was a Federal government initiative, to support the community in the drought, hosted by Club Narrabri at The Golfie and supported by Narrabri Lions and Narrabri Shire Council.
