There were no Namoi Soccer League matches played last weekend as the competition rested for the long weekend bye.

However seven Narrabri FC players laced up their boots when they travelled to Gunnedah to compete at the town’s annual six-a-side tournament.

Cooper Brayshaw, Rhys Hayne, Nathan Trindall, Danny Anderson, Matt Dunn and Toby and Jacob Sunderland formed the side which finished fourth in the day.

Dunn was the team’s goalkeeper on the day and the other six players all netted at least one goal, with Brayshaw finishing the day as the team’s leading goal scorer with eight goals, scoring in every game except one.

There were seven teams in action on the day and Narrabri FC played six games.

It won two of those and lost the other four.

Team coach Neil Brayshaw was impressed with his team’s performance and effort throughout the day.

“I’m mighty proud of their effort to finish fourth against some top quality opposition,” he said.

In its first match Narrabri FC took on Tamworth-based side Hillvue and scored a 5-2 win.

Brayshaw scored a hat trick in the match and Hayne bagged a double.

In game two Narrabri FC challenged a combined Tamworth and Armidale side named Blue Boys.
