Narrabri and Wee Waa police officers have been honoured for bravery and service to the force at a special ceremony in Tamworth.

Sergeant Darren Wallington and Senior Constable Scott O’Brien received Commander’s Commendations for their outstanding work during a high-risk incident in Wee Waa, in early 2018.

The incident involved sensitive negotiations with a man to stop him from harming himself, and
potentially others.

The officers successfully resolved the incident without anybody being harmed and the man was taken into custody.

Leading Senior Constable Daniel Cooper will also be presented with a Commander’s Commendation for his extraordinary work in the same high-risk incident, but at a later date.

The officer in charge of Narrabri Shire Inspector Robert Dunn received a 25-year Police Medal and a National Police Service Medal for his diligent and ethical service.

Wee Waa’s Senior Constable Megan O’Brien was recognised with a G20 award and Detective Senior Constable Jason Dickinson received a 20 – year Police Medal.

Inspector Dunn said he was very proud of his team and also added that officers Tania Willis and Gary Cook have now completed their training and have been confirmed as Constables.
