The Boggabri team of Elizabeth Jones, Gwen Dominique, Kathy Davis and Robyn Traynor celebrate their win at the Boggabri Ladies’ Open Golf Day which was held in conjunction with the North and North Western District Ladies’ Golf Association Country Cup on Sunday, June 23.

The Boggabri Ladies’ Open Golf Day was held in conjunction with the North and North Western District Ladies’ Golf Association Country Cup on Sunday, June 23.

Forty-five ladies from Boggabri and neighbouring towns braved the very trying drought conditions of the course.

The Boggabri team consisting of Robyn Traynor, Elizabeth Jones, Gwen Dominique and Kathy Davis was delighted to win the Country Cup with 299 nett from Tamworth with 337 nett.

Traynor won the overall nett event returning a very good 71 while Eve Parnell of Tamworth who was visiting the course for the very first time was runner-up with nett 73.

Sally Topping of Gunnedah retuned a good score of 87 off the stick to win the gross event from Margaret Court of Manilla with 89.

Boggabri’s Jones was third with 93.

Teammate Davis won the first nine and the third shot in her division.

Lyn Shearer of Narrabri won the second nine.

Long drives were won by Lyn Simpson of Barraba, Narrabri’s Shearer and Kerry Smith from Barraba.

Traynor won nearest the pin on the second hole and Gwen Dominique was nearest to pin on the sixth hole.
