The Narrabri Rugby Club’s first grade side continued its unbeaten run in the second half of the 2019 Central North Rugby Union season on Saturday when it downed Inverell 27-23 on the road in round 15.

The Blue Boars have won all five of their matches since round 10 when they kicked off the second half of the season with a 22-20 victory in Walcha.

Since then they have defeated Gunnedah (31-12) at Dangar Park and Scone (18-7), Barraba (32-26) and Inverell away from home.

In that six-round run, which has included a bye, the Narrabri men have acquired 28 points out of a possible 30.

Saturday’s victory saw the Blue Boars pick up five points after the team scored four tries in its four-point win.

Jydon Hill scored two of those, and teammates Nathan Nott and Clayton Pursche crossed once each.

Hill and Jacob Nichols kicked one conversion each and Nichols also slotted a penalty goal.

Inverell scored three tries and kicked a conversion and two penalty goals.

There was an upset in one of the other round 15 games on Saturday which benefitted the Blue Boars as Gunnedah beat second placed Moree.

Despite playing with 14 men for 20 minutes of the game the Red Devils returned home with five points after a 37-28 win.

Moree’s loss saw Narrabri finish the round just one point behind the Bulls as the battle for second heats up.

Elsewhere Scone and Walcha continued the trend of away wins.

The pair downed Quirindi 36-25 and Barraba 54-19 in their respective away matches.
