The talent and creativity of local floral artists was tested against the best in NSW in Narrabri on the weekend and the Narrabri artists emerged from the contest with flying colours.

The occasion was the two day NSW Floral Art Association exhibition and competition weekend.

The Association stages only a few weekends around the state each year with competition, workshops and demonstrations.

And for the first time, Narrabri Garden Club hosted the event.

“This is a major coup,” said Garden Club president Jenni Hayne and her fellow members.

“We attended last year’s weekend in Tamworth” one Narrabri entrant said.

“And someone said to us ‘Narrabri is too far away to host the show.’ And here we are with this successful event.”

Narrabri floral artists and gardeners are recognised in the gardening movement as being leaders, attenders and supporters of garden events far and wide.

And Narrabri entries were very high in the record 60 entry show.

Not only did Narrabri’s first hosting of the event mark a major coup, but local exhibitors won firsts and major prizes in several categories against the state’s most accomplished exhibitors who have competed nationally and internationally.

Narrabri Garden Club was delighted with the success of the day and proud of the achievements of its prize winning members.
