Narrabri High School under-14s rugby league team – you’ve made us proud.

On Thursday, August 1, a massive crowd descended on Collins Park to cheer on the Narrabri High School’s Buckley Shield side when it went head-to-head with

Bass High School for a spot in the knockout tournament’s semi-finals.

That large crowd walked away from the match proud of the home side which fought right until the very end in a 46-0 loss against a bigger, stronger, well-drilled team from a school with an implemented rugby league program.

Bass High School is located in Canterbury-Bankstown in the South-western Sydney region.

The visiting team attacked and defended well against the home side to score a 46-0 victory after leading 18-0 at half-time.

To say that the Narrabri boys’ attitudes and efforts were admirable would be an understatement.

The team, which was coached by Brad Graham and Brodie Rumsby, never gave up even when winning the match was clearly no longer a possibility, throwing themselves into tackle after tackle for the entirety of the 50-minute match.

Before that game the Narrabri High School players were presented their jerseys by former students and well-known local sportsmen Jake Rumsby and Jake Packer.

The Narrabri boys dominated allcomers on the road to the quarter-final.

They won four games in the first five rounds of the Buckley Shield to reach the quarter final.
