Riders from as far as West Australia joined 54 others on the annual NSW Black Dog Ride to promote awareness of depression and support its sufferers on Thursday.
The riders stopped over in Narrabri, enjoyed breakfast served by Narrabri Lions and bush poetry from Max Pringle OAM before continuing their journey.
They set off from Wagga on Sunday last week and after visiting Narrabri headed for Texas and their ultimate destination, Byron Bay.
“The support has been fantastic,” said veteran rider ‘Bear Falconer’, an organiser along with his wife Nerolie.
“We have been meeting people and chatting, raising awareness of depression and suicide prevention.”
Bear said some of the riders had told him they didn’t realise just how bad the drought was as they travelled through the west.
His wife Nerolie added that they had seen drought before, coming from West Wyalong, ‘but nothing as bad as this.’
