The Narrabri Shire community will have the opportunity to mark the Narrabri Shire council’s scorecard over the next few days.

The council has commissioned a research company to survey residents on their thoughts about the council’s performance.

“Council has engaged the services of Micromex Research to conduct the 2019 Narrabri Shire Community Satisfaction Survey” council said in a statement. “The Community Satisfaction Survey was last undertaken in 2017 and is being completed in 2019 to seek renewed feedback from residents on their satisfaction with facilities and services provided by Council.”

The survey, through phone contact,  began yesterday.

“Through the community engagement process in the development of the Community Strategic Plan (CSP), our community identified several civic leadership priority areas to be addressed in the CSP” the council said.

“From this process the following objective and action was created:

“Community satisfaction: Level of satisfaction with Council’s provision of information to residents about activities, services and community services.

“Objective: We will proactively engage and partner with the community and government to achieve our strategic goals

“Strategy: Ensure the community is informed and involved in Council activities through implementing quality consultation.

“Action: Conduct a customer satisfaction survey of the community.

“This process is being facilitated by an external, independent agency experienced in completing similar local government community satisfaction surveys.

“All responses and details remain confidential and are not shared with Narrabri Shire Council – Council only sees the overall results. The results of the survey are reported to Councillors and staff to inform planning decisions and the allocation of resources.

“The results are also made available to the wider community.

“The researchers will be conducting short, 10 minute telephone interviews via random selection, 400 responses are gathered in total, throughout the Narrabri Shire.

“The researchers began making the calls from the evening of September 16  and are expected to complete all calls by September 21.

“The survey is conducted by telephone to allow the community to provide feedback confidentially, to an independent third party.

“It also ensures any questions the interviewee aren’t sure of can be clarified over the phone – ensuring responses that are given are provided accurately and as  informed as possible. “We understand this method may not be the most convenient for some, however, it does provide the most accurate data for Council’s to use to better serve the needs of its community.”
