NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro officially opened $335,000 worth of recreational facilities installed at Dangar Park on his recent visit to Wee Waa.

The funds have bought play equipment, shade sails, an electric barbecue, outdoor gym equipment, cricket nets and a basketball half-court.

The facilities have been in use for some time.

The mayor Cathy Redding cut the ribbon to declare the park improvements open and thanked the Deputy Premier for the facilities which she said would be enjoyed by children and families for generations to come.

Mr Barilaro said the money for the park upgrades had come from the Stronger Country Communities Fund which was directing money to 1,001 projects across regional NSW.

The money has been sourced from the $1.7 billion Regional Growth Fund, which together with the $4.2 billion Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund, is underwriting once in a generation infrastructure development in the regions.

Mr Barilaro was welcomed to Wee Waa by members of the Wee Waa branch of the National Party.

“It is unprecedented for a Deputy Premier to spend three days in Narrabri Shire” commented branch president Kerry Watts.
