Inland Rail is conducting a new round of consultation on the Narrabri to North Star (N2NS) project.

N2NS Senior Project Manager Mark Stevens said a round of information sessions will be held at Moree, Croppa Creek, North Star, Narrabri and Bellata from September 23 to 26 on key aspects of the project including flooding and noise impacts.

“Inland Rail continues to engage with directly-affected landowners, communities, local and state government representatives,” Mr Stevens said.

“We are embarking on another round of community sessions to keep locals informed of our progress. These community updates are a vital part of our planning and consultation work.” Mr Stevens said the project is divided into two portions (separable portion 1 and separable portion 2 – ) to enable the more complex hydrology of the 15km floodplain between the Mehi and Gwydir rivers north of Moree to be further investigated, while the remaining 174 upgrade progresses on schedule.

“We are continuing to give the community the opportunity to comment on matters of importance to them. The upcoming sessions will focus on flooding and noise impacts in SP1 as well as offer a project update to all community members living in the Narrabri to North Star project area,” he said.

“A new EIS process will be undertaken for SP2 in the coming months and we will be out talking to the community further about this area shortly.

“Many residents are time poor with competing demands during the day, so to avoid any disappointment double-check the session time you would like to attend on https://inlandrail.artc.com.au/N2NS/key_dates or call 1800 732 761.” Narrabri district community members are invited to provide their feedback on the Narrabri-North Star sector by visiting one of the information sessions on Wednesday, September 25 at The Crossing Theatre, and Thursday, September 26, at Bellata Golf Club.
