A group describing itself as ‘an alliance of left-wing organisations’ planning a ‘defiant and disruptive’ blockade of the International Mining and Resources Conference in Melbourne on October 28-31, is urging students “to take more time off school” and join in. “We need to escalate our tactics now” a spokeswoman said in a statement. A blockade planning meeting will be held on September 29. “A new generation of young climate rebels is interested in learning radical skills and tactics” organisers said.
