Former Narrabri residents, from families to footy players, teachers and tourists, students and scientists are planning a return to their home town for the inaugural ‘Back to the Bri’ festival on Saturday.

The returnees will catch up with local residents, families and friends, in what will be a weekend of reunions and get togethers.

Narrabri school class reunions, a Toastmasters’ 30th birthday reunion, and ‘step back in time’ feature at the Old Gaol are planned.

Collins Park will be the venue for the ‘Back to the ‘Bri’ activities, an afternoon of entertainment, food and fun.

Gates will open at 12.15pm.

Back to the Bri has been organised by Narrabri Chamber of Commerce, with a small band of members spending recent months in planing and preparation.

All the action will be at Collins Park, Narrabri, on Saturday afternoon when the inaugural ‘Back to the ‘Bri family festival is staged.

The gates open at 12.15 for an afternoon of entertainment and games.

The festival has been organised by Narrabri Chamber of Commerce.

“We want this to be a whole of community afternoon,” said Chamber president Russell Stewart.

“We will have traditional fun events for kids – and for adults – including sack races, egg and spoon races, tug- o-war, and a Carton and Cask Canter, a timed 100-metre sprint for men and women carrying a carton or a cask.”

The many fans of the Star Wars movies will have the opportunity to win prizes at the festival. Highlights will be the Star Wars costume competition – come as a character from Star Wars – and Star Wars Lightsaber classes which start at 10am.

Prizes worth $1000 will be won including a $500 Star Wars Lightsaber.
