The Narrabri Touch Inc men’s and ladies’ summer competitions continued on Monday night with 20 teams in action on a warm evening.

There were 10 matches played during the second last Monday of touch for the calendar year before the competition breaks for the holiday period.

The 2019-20 season will then resume on Monday, February 3.

On Monday there were four ladies’ matches contested.

In one of the first games of the evening Redbacks downed BPR 9-3.

The Redbacks’ victory was inspired by April Smith who crossed for five tries in the match, while teammates Brooke Field, Telisha Hilderson, Hayley Lang and Sara Melbourne all went over once each.

In the other ladies’ game played in the first timeslot of the evening, Phoenix Two390 cruised past RSL Roulettes 7-1.

There were three try scorers for Phoenix Two390 which were Zara Foley who claimed a hat-trick and Cassidy Staines and Holly Ford who both bagged doubles.

The Roulettes’ try was scored by Leah Lash.

In the second timeslot a much closer game was contested which saw Agies Ladies down Specialised Civil 5-2.

Tashanny Clark scored two of Agies’ tries, and the other three were shared evenly between Bella Cruickshank, Alisha and Cathy Conomos.

Specialised Civil’s Jessie Schwager crossed for both of her team’s tries.

The fourth and final ladies’ game contested on Monday was the closest yet.

It saw the Hounddogs down Bluebirds 6-4.

Hounddogs’ Lauren Brown starred with a hat-trick while teammate Gabby Chaffey went over twice and Jess McFetridge scored once.

The four Bluebirds tries were shared between Georgia Hardman, Lidia McCauley, Clariese Ryman and Anni Wenner.

Three men’s Pool A matches were played on Monday, two of which were contested during the first timeslot of games.

One of those saw a Matt McDonnell-inspired DTA Lumberjacks defeat Mowley’s Maniacs 8-2.

McDonnell scored four of his team’s tries while the other four were shared evenly between James Albert, Dylan Armitage, Clayton Pursche and Drew Tapscott.
Mowley’s Maniacs’ two tries were scored by Pat Mowle and Lane Rees.

In the second Pool A game ODAPs edged out Ballbusters 3-2.

Murray Scott bagged a double for the losing side, while the ODAPs’ tries were claimed by Ronnie Bower, Jaylen Sharpley and Ashton Smith.

In the only Pool A match played in the second timeslot on the evening the Grumley Builders piled on six tries against Gee Bangers while keeping its opposition scoreless.

Tom Nolan crossed for four of his side’s six tries while Hamish Duncan and Ethan Brown claimed the other two.

One of the three Pool B games was contested in the first timeslot which saw Win or Booze just get over the top of Damien Chiplin Plumbing with a 3-2 victory.

Connor Hill scored two of Win or Booze’s tries and Keegan Richardson went over for the other.

Damien Chiplin Plumbing’s two tries were shared between Bailey Ballangarry and Jock Small.

In the second men’s Pool B game Hidden talent downed Cougars 11-5 in the highest-scoring match of the evening.

Hidden Talent duo Blake Hilderson and Rodney Lamb both claimed hat-tricks, while teammates Jordan Harvey and Lachlan Trindall bagged doubles, and Bernard Gabbott scored the other.

Cougars’ Brenton Cochrane scored two of his team’s tries and the other three went to Adam Gordon, Michael Knox and Corey Peck.

The third and final Pool B game saw One23 Cafe outscore Stylies 5-3.

In that contest Brendon Warnock bagged a double for the winning side and teammates Jamie Charlton, Gus Macrae and Jake Packer claimed a try each.

All three of Stylies’ tries were scored by Aaron Stoltenberg.
