It is again humbling to see the kindness and generosity the communities of Narrabri and Wee Waa show in times of adversity.
The Country Education Foundation of the Namoi has been lucky enough to have been supported once again by our generous sponsors and donors.
With so many affected by the drought, we greatly appreciate your continued support.
In our 2018/19 intake we supported 18 students with over $30,000 dollars in grants.
We have seen another influx in the number of applicants again for our 2019/20 year. This year, we had the Loder scholarship to award to an outstanding applicant.
The late Bruce Loder was an employee of Auscott Narrabri who started as a grader driver and worked his way up to the position of general manager.
Mr and Mrs Loder believed in the importance of a good education and for that reason the family established the Loder scholarship in Mr Loder’s honour.
The committee has been very busy with fundraising ideas with the introduction of the CEFN cap, a great initiative.
We would also like to thank our fabulous friends in Rotary especially Mr Darrell Tiemens who this year supported a trivia night from which we received the money raised.
It was a great night of fun and a few hard questions that kept the audience on their toes.
We are also concerned about how best to acknowledge our sponsors and donors and we have re-introduced the grant stickers.
The stickers can be seen on the shop front of businesses who are major sponsors. We have also sent out a survey and would greatly appreciate our supporters’ responses.
On behalf of the CEFN committee I would like to once again sincerely thank and acknowledge the wonderful generosity of our sponsors, donors and supporters who have continued to back our Foundation in this tough time of drought.
I would like to personally thank the CEFN committee who attend meetings, interview students, organise fundraisers and events and give generously of their time each year. Thank you.
