The 2019 Narrabri Shire Sports Awards event will be held in conjunction with the Narrabri Shire Australia Day Awards on Sunday, January 26, at the Narrabri Golf Club.

Nominations for the event are due to close at 5pm tomorrow, January 10.

Once again all of the eight award categories and the Narrabri Shire Sportsperson of the Year will be presented at the event.

The awards are open for anyone who has recorded a sporting achievement of note in 2019, with the eligibility period running from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2019.

Other qualification criteria also remain the same in that the nominees must reside in the Narrabri Shire; demonstrate an outstanding sporting record in one or more sporting activities; have displayed outstanding sportsmanship in one or more sporting activities; and contribute and encourage participation in sporting activities.

Nomination forms are available at Longies SportsPower, Narrabri Shire Council, and The Courier office.

The last time the sports awards event was held was in November, 2017.

That year, Bella Stewart was crowned the Narrabri Shire sportsperson of the year for her incredible achievements in athletics, more specifically high-jumping.

Other awards were won by Ella Tomlinson, Joey Fowler, Coby Cornish, Lisa Pillar, Grahame Keys, Tony Meppem and the Narrabri FC soccer side.
