Bellata is set to have a party on Australia Day – a big party – thanks to the generosity of the Mounties Group of Sydney registered clubs.

The event is titled ‘Having a Beer with Bellata’ at Bellata Golf Club.

Mounties Group is sending a relief team and more than $140,000 in funds, services and products to Bellata as the established NSW club group looks to bring aid to those struggling in rural and remote areas of the state.

The Mounties Group relief team will spend part of the money in the region to boost the local economy and bring with them supplies to be utilised for a community event.

The visitors are bringing 60 cases of Great Northern beer and 60 cases of Bundy.

“In addition to a headline act and ‘X Factor’ finalist we have hired a number of local performers from the area,” Mounties Group Chief Executive Officer, Dale Hunt said.

Bellata Golf Club, Lions and Rotary are kicking things off a little earlier with a barbecue from noon.

The Mounties Group employs over 554 staff across seven registered clubs in the south western suburbs and on the northern beaches, servicing more than 100,000 members and many more guests each year.

The Bellata Mounties day is an unprecedented ‘first’ to be staged outside its local government area.

The visitors include the entire board of directors, who will land at Tamworth and travel by bus to Bellata. Volunteers will be coming on a Mounties courtesy bus.
Careflight is driving up in patient transport vehicles.

Bellata was identified as an area in need late last year, when Mounties discovered the entire Narrabri Shire was suffering through drought.

With this in mind, Dale Hunt said that among plans for the relief visit was to revitalise the community spirit by ‘Having a Beer with Bellata’ as much as making a difference to the local economy through local spending and donations.

“Our plans are three-fold – we want to bring much-needed supplies to the town, support local businesses and host an event for the community where we have organised entertainment, food and drinks so the venue can put on a great afternoon.

“We have teamed up with CareFlight and are pleased to have their support. They will be bringing out a number of medical professionals in Ambulances to support our Bellata mission and provide access to important medical advice.

“We aren’t just sitting and writing a cheque, we are sending a relief team to Bellata to personally deliver the donations and host a special event on Australia Day to raise spirits and let the community know they are not forgotten. This is a fantastic opportunity not only to provide assistance at a time where it is desperately necessary, but also for us to gain a greater understanding for and appreciation of the work our farmers do and the conditions they do it in,” he added.

In addition to utilising funds raised from their race day and leveraging support from business partners and suppliers, Mounties Group clubs are bringing to the area donations from members of the Sydney club community.
