The Narrabri Shire was treated to some much-needed rain late last week which continued into the weekend.

Thank you to Max Pringle for sending in this glorious poem about the rain. We hope there is much more to come.

There’s something falling from the sky

That young people mightn’t know

It’s something that old folk call rain

It did often, long ago.

It’s coming down in bucketfulls

As it did in years gone by

When we were locked in drought before

And God opened up the sky.

Some children might be terrified

When it fell on them because

It’s been so long since we’ve had rain

They would not know what it was.

Still and all it’s very welcome

And while it won’t break the drought

Let’s hope we get a lot more yet

As we’ve been so long without.

My washing on the line got wet

And I don’t care anyway

I’ll just leave it out on the line

It’d such a small price to pay.

All you climate change fanatics

Well, the climate changed today

Just as it’s done in eons past

And it will do anyway.

As a now retired farmer

It could do a lot of good

As long as we get follow up

And this time I think we could.

So God is now back in control

Shown his mercy once again

And as he does in his own time

He’s seen fit to send us rain.
