The officer in charge of Narrabri Shire Inspector Robert Dunn said there have been a number of property related offences, on motor vehicles and homes, in Narrabri.

He said police officers are trying to address the situation with increased patrols and other tactics.

Insp. Dunn said there was “a trend” in attacking flyscreens and manipulating window locks or opening unlocked windows.

In the hot weather people might not be closing and locking windows but Insp. Dunn wanted to stress that flyscreens were not a safe security measure and windows should be secured.

“Also, please don’t leave valuables in vehicles,” added Insp. Dunn.

“We remind everyone if you have any information, no matter how minor, please call Crime Stoppers or Narrabri Police Station.

“It may be the missing piece of the puzzle,” he said.

“And if you feel you’re at risk, you should never hesitate to call triple zero if you feel your safety is compromised.”
