Three Wee Waa Swimming Club swimmers will set off for the city later this month after qualifying for the Swimming NSW 2020 Speedo Sprints Series finals.

Will Smith, Jaxon Gray and Nate Dewson all travelled to Gunnedah on Saturday where they competed at the New England North West Speedo Sprints qualifying heats at the Gunnedah Memorial Pool.

That venue also hosted the New England North West Long Course Area Championships later that day and on Sunday which Will and Jaxon competed.

The three nine-year-olds all qualified for the 2020 Speedo Sprints finals which they will take part in at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on Saturday, February 29.

Speedo Sprints is for swimmers aged 8-13-years and to qualify for the finals the swimmers had to place in the top four in their respective events.

Will qualified for four finals after racing to top four finishes in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke.

Jaxon and Nate qualified for three events each.

Jaxon secured top four finishes in 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, and 50m breaststroke.

Nate raced to top four finishes in the 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke.

The Wee Waa Swimming Club will now turn its attention to this Sunday’s Narrabri Stingrays Swimming Club development carnival at the Narrabri Aquatic Centre.
