Residents and the teams at both Whiddon Narrabri Jessie Hunt and Whiddon Narrabri Robert Young are excited to be celebrating New South Wales Seniors Week in 2020 with the local community.

This year’s theme is ‘Love to Celebrate!’ and the festival aims to promote positive community attitudes towards older people and ageing, facilitate community participation and enhance community connections.

Whiddon Narrabri Jessie Hunt and Whiddon Narrabri Robert Young will be hosting a morning of fun and the Narrabri community are invited to join in on all the fun and games.

Our team will also be using this opportunity to educate how Narrabri can move towards a dementia-friendly community, while also providing information about aged care and community care services from our team of experts on the day.

Whiddon Narrabri Director of Care Services, Fiona Lysaught, shared that Seniors Week is always a fantastic opportunity to bring the local community into the home.

“Narrabri is a wonderful community, and this extends across both our homes.

“Our residents enjoy coming together while getting into some friendly competition during different activities.

“For us at Narrabri, educating the community on becoming a Dementia Friend is very important, which is one of the things we’re aiming to do
during this Seniors Festival.

“By understanding the steps, you can really make a difference to someone living with Dementia.

“Dementia doesn’t discriminate and can impact anyone so we’re committed to educating our community to help them understand how they can help people with dementia remain connected,” she said.
