The Wee Waa Rotary Club, Lions Club and Swimming Club joined forces on Friday night to put on a spectacular charity swimming carnival.

The popular event attracted families and community members from around the district.

“It went well, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves,” said organiser and Rotarian David Grellman.

“And the business community supported the event well.

“I think the tube race ended up being the most enjoyed race.”

The novelty races provided plenty of entertainment for swimmers and onlookers but the competitive heats also had the crowd cheering loudly from the sidelines.

Auscott won the Business House race thanks to some sensational swimming by Billy Shearin, Nate Dewson, Megan Crutcher and Matilda Curry.

The team ‘CCs’ claimed the Family Handicap race with swimmers Matilda Currey, Ruby Currey, Liam Crutcher and Megan Crutcher.

‘The Incredibles’ won the General Handicap race with swimmers Emily Hartnett, Nate Dewson, Clay Hoffman and Brody Slee.

And Wee Waa High School teachers claimed victory for the second year running in the Schools Handicap race with swimmers Andy Kiely, Jordan McCluskey, Trent Woolcott and Sharon Grellman.
