Hunter New England Health has just released a statement reporting 17 more cases of COVID-19 in the region.

“As at 8pm, Sunday, 22 March 2020, an additional 17 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed since our update yesterday.

“This brings the total number of Hunter New England confirmed cases to 47.

“In an effort to prepare our services for COVID-19, from today HNE Health is postponing non-urgent elective surgeries to allow for staff training and provide more capacity to respond to the pandemic.”

NSW Heath said there are an additional 136 cases of COVID-19 in the state, since 8pm 21 March, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in NSW to 669.
