Firefighters from Narrabri Fire and Rescue were recently put to the test completing their recertifications in operating open circuit breathing apparatus and performing search and rescue techniques to locate and remove casualties from a structure fire.

“‘BAS-2’ is one of two specialised, purpose built mobile training semi trailers that service NSW ensuring that all firefighters from FRNSW are kept up to date with vital operational training,” said Narrabri Station commander Shane Bradford.

“These semi trailers are operational FRNSW appliances which also have the ability to supply and refill BA cylinders at large incidents as well as supply additional breathing apparatus, chemical splash suits, fully encapsulated suits and other hazardous material equipment which are all stowed onboard to be deployed at a moment’s notice.

“Thanks to our instructor, Nick Trute from Fire and Rescue NSW and BA Hazmat for bringing out the semi and providing a great, information packed training drill.”
