Member for Barwon Roy Butler has posted a blunt warning on his social media account to people looking at travelling to our region.

“This is a message targeted to people travelling through, or intending to travel to Barwon Communities without a lawful reason.

“Please don’t.

“Aside from risking an $11,000 fine, you might place lives at risk.

“In normal times we will welcome you with open arms and a smile. We will look forward to doing that down the track.

“As this virus moves with people, who may not even know they are sick, it creates a massive risk to our vulnerable communities, well aged people, first Australians and people with existing health issues. We don’t have big hospitals in most of our towns, and some dont have a Doctor.

“It’s not that we don’t love you to visit, just not at the moment.

“I understand there are some people that do not have a permanent home address that are currently in the electorate. I am actively working with the relevant Minister on a plan for you – if this applies to you please get in touch with us, and tell us your location.”
