Cardinal George Pell will be freed from jail after the High Court unanimously quashed his conviction for historic child sex offences.

A jury convicted Cardinal Pell in 2018, a decision that the Victorian Court of Appeal upheld in a two-to-one decision. But Cardinal Pell’s lawyers then went to the High Court.

Today the High Court handed down its decision, granting Cardinal Pell’s application for special leave and acquitting him.

The High Court of Australia has released the below links to the judgement and reasons for the judgement.
