Traditional public ceremonies have been cancelled, but Australians have been urged to commemorate Anzac Day privately at home on April 25.

The Continental Eagle team at Narrabri has taken a lead and is preparing to ‘fly the flag’ on Anzac Day.

“We want to show our respect for the men and women who fought for us,” said managing director John van der Vliet.

“They fought for us and now we all have to fight together for our country, to protect community health and our economy during the COVID-19 crisis.”

Let’s show the Aussie spirit is very much alive.

Mr van der Vliet said the Continental Eagle team wanted to promote the suggestion raised by the RSL that the community should observe the day despite not being able to gather for marches and services.

“We feel we should promote the flag flying to bring us all together when we have to be apart.”

Continental Eagle is one of the businesses which continues to operate, observing social distancing. “We are here to support the region in any way we can with whatever we can provide in this situation,” Mr van der Vliet said.
