Saturday was one of those days that suited Mick King perfectly, the weather and the golf were just right.
Mick was among the steady flow of golfers who were pleased to return to the now reopened course on Saturday.
Mick, originally from Ireland, but a resident of Narrabri for nearly the past five years, was one of the first out on the course.
The cloudy skies, intermittent rain and cool breeze didn’t worry him.
“This is my kind of weather,” said Mick. ”I am enjoying the cool and damp and also the golf.”
Mick was playing by himself when The Courier caught up with him.
“I haven’t played for six weeks since the COVID-19 shutdown,” he said.
“I haven’t got any witnesses, but today I have had my best round in over 20 years.”
While the golf course is open, strict regulations still apply.
A maximum of two players per group is allowed, one person per cart, one set of golf clubs per cart, players must keep 1.5 metres apart and players must leave the course and club facilities immediately after their game.
However despite the necessary restrictions the return to golf was a welcome indicator that things are gradually returning to normal.
