Target Narrabri will close.
The decision was made in a boardroom far away by people who, sadly, do not care.
Clearly Wesfarmers do not want our business. We can choose to look at this in two different ways.
The first is from a fear-based perspective. What does this mean for our town? Are we dying? Will more trade go to other major centres? Another empty space in the main street … etc. Or … is this an opportunity?
Has a space just opened up for a business that will have higher staff numbers?
Can our established family-owned retailers now expand their product lines with confidence and bolster revenues? Where should we focus our energy? Will you spend time completing a petition to appeal the heartless corporate? It had little effect in Gilgandra.
Or … will you phone the local family-owned retailer and tell them what size singlets and socks you prefer and suggest they stock them?
I take my singlets in a size 12. Who wants my business?
