A group of young Narrabri based business operators has formed a new organisation, The Narrabri Industrial Network, to showcase the goods and services available locally to contractors and businesses undertaking projects in the region.

The group sees exciting prospects for the Narrabri Shire and aims to develop opportunities to support local businesses, to grow and strengthen the local economy.

“Narrabri Industrial Network is in full support of future developments concerning coal, gas and the Inland Rail project that will have many positive benefits for our region,” said the organisation’s president Justin Smith.

NIN’s inaugural membership has been drawn from local industries and the organisation is keen to encourage new members.

Members of the new Narrabri Industrial Network are aiming to identify and meet opportunities for local industrial businesses in what they see as an exciting future of growth for the Narrabri district.

“The Narrabri Industrial Network is a not for profit organisation that represents our leading local industrial businesses,” explained the group’s president, Justin Smith.

“The purpose of the group is to showcase the goods and services available locally, to contractors and businesses conducting projects in the region.

“Through networking, support and advocacy, we aim to connect our members with opportunities and increase the involvement of our highly capable local businesses in future projects.

“The formation of NIN comes at an important time as our community emerges from a long period of difficult trading conditions owing to drought and other factors.

“We strongly encourage locals to use local businesses first.

“We also aim to build the right relationships to ensure our members are front and centre when contractors seek supply of goods and provision of services.

“The success of NIN will be evident on both sides of the transaction,” Mr Smith said.

“The user will enjoy the savings of time and cost coupled with the efficiencies that come from using local services who know the region – while the supplier benefits from increased utility and business.

“The growing membership base currently consists of businesses representing industrial supplies, earthmoving/civil works, waste management, fabrication and induction hardening, concrete and quarries, builders, plumbers, automation and control, signage, mechanics, haulage, professional services and the real estate sectors,” Mr Smith said.

“NIN would like to thank its founding members for their strong support of the group. The founding members are ITC National, JA Smith Solutions, Johnstone Concrete and Landscape Supplies, Namoi WasteCorp, Specialised Civil Services and WTC Earthmoving.

“NIN is in full support of future developments concerning coal, gas and the Inland Rail project that will have many positive benefits for our region,” Mr Smith said.

“NIN aims to work closely with Narrabri Shire Council and Narrabri and District Chamber of Commerce to further the interests of its members and the region.

“NIN is building a strong relationship with Narrabri High School to connect our youth with employment opportunities.

“The upskilling and retention of our youth is of vital importance to the future of the region.

“Our plans for an official launch event have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting event as the situation unfolds.

“NIN is looking to employ a local staff member to coordinate grant applications, labour hire opportunities, safety compliance, drug and alcohol testing, IT services, financial services, legal services and consultancy for its members.

“The future is exciting.

“Together, we can ensure the opportunities ahead create lasting growth and prosperity for Narrabri.”
