Temperatures dropped on Monday evening across the Narrabri region and residents woke to a dusting of white snow on Mount Kaputar, on Tuesday morning.

The Mount Dowe weather station recorded a low of -0.2 degrees overnight on Monday.

The Simpson family didn’t waste any time making their family’s traditional trip up the mountain to see the flurry of snow and put their talents towards the construction of snowmen.

Mandy Simpson sent in some greats snaps to The Courier of daughters Emily (9) and Jessie Simpson (12) enjoying the region’s very own ‘winter wonderland’.

“We call it ‘Snow Day’, every year we head up to see the first snowfall,” said Mrs Simpson.

“It was very windy, the wind-chill factor was horrendous.

“There probably wasn’t as much snow as last year but there was enough for the girls to have fun and throw snowballs.”
