The Country University Centre North West has had a bumper first year.

Tomorrow the CUC celebrates its first anniversary, capping a year which has seen student registrations three times the expected number.

“Since we opened we have had a total of 150 enrolments,” said Centre manager Cathy Walters in Narrabri.

Students who register at the CUC have all the resources of a university campus – computer work stations, and ancillary equipment, a quiet study environment, lecture room, a kitchen-breakout room, and swipe card access from 5am to midnight seven days a week.

They can register for courses at any university in Australia, free, and have access to the services of a Learning Skills Advisor, free, at CUC NW.

“Students are undertaking courses ranging from accounting to teaching, social work to psychology, agriculture, even medicine,” said Ms Walters.
