The Bellata Recreation Precinct Plan was adopted by Narrabri Shire Council unanimously at its last meeting.

The Bellata Recreation Precinct Plan is a detailed road map containing future community open space improvements.

The first items to be actioned in the plan will be the installation of a new playground with shelter, primitive campground and car park upgrade.

A multi-purpose sporting court is also scheduled to be completed within the next 12 months.

The precinct will be located centrally, close to the Bellata Public School, Bellata Golf Club and town oval.

The location provides residents with an inclusive community hub and a safe area for travellers.

Mayor Cathy Redding is looking forward to seeing this precinct come to life after many years of planning.

“This precinct will provide the Bellata community opportunities that will meet the current and future recreation requirements,” Cr Redding said.

“The purpose of the precinct is to provide a local recreation area for activities and school sports, as well as an attractive recreation and social setting for locals and visitors to Bellata.”

Council’s manager parks and open spaces, Evan Harris will lead the delivery of the Bellata precinct.

“In developing the plans, council consulted with the Bellata community, Bellata Golf Club, and Bellata Tennis Club to ensure the precinct plan was inclusive and met the needs and desires of the community,” he said.

“Council has been successful in securing $287,000 in grant funding so far to complete elements of the project and we will continue to explore further funding opportunities as they become available.

“The precinct plan will be implemented over three stages. The first in the next one to two years with stages two and three scheduled to be undertaken in the future.”
