My husband Ron and I have lived in Narrabri for over 57 years and consider ourselves locals.
We have survived droughts and flooding rains during which we have made some lifelong friends.
Narrabri has also survived many difficult times but the sense of community has always helped us to overcome any problems.
We are of the opinion that Narrabri has been given the opportunity to press forward into the future with the gas and associated industries and the Inland Rail project.
Opportunities are available for the young people who wish to remain here instead of having to leave town and seek employment elsewhere, as did our three children.
It really annoys me to see people not from this area telling us what to do.
I often wonder how many of them use gas in their homes.
One of our grandchildren has just completed his degree at Sydney University and is having trouble getting a job because of the coronavirus.
He would welcome an opportunity to apply for a job with Santos and would happily relocate from Sydney.
I understand many people would like to show their support for Santos but are unwilling to be harassed by the anti-gas lobby. What an absolute shame.
I implore the community of Narrabri to throw their support behind Santos and give our young people an opportunity to have a decent job and remain in their supportive community.
