Adult Learners’ Week occurs in September and promotes the wide variety of learning possibilities for people of all backgrounds and all stages of life.
Public Libraries facilitate this by creating and providing learning opportunities that everyone can access.
Why bother? It’s simple really.
Learning something new makes a difference.
People are often surprised to know that learning takes many forms; from a trip to a local art gallery or Library, to starting a new hobby.
In fact, any activity where you are exposed to something new, can exhibit huge benefits.
There is a strong relationship between adult learning, strong democracies and productive communities.
It also improves your life in so many ways – from your health and wellbeing through to your socioeconomic status.
Moving beyond your comfort zone and trying something new builds your confidence, prevents stress and loneliness, and increases happiness.
We all need to be lifelong learners now to stay relevant in an ever-changing world and to keep connected with others.
This year’s theme is ‘Renew You’ and is a strong call to action to all members of our community to try something new and discover the benefits.
Narrabri Shire Libraries is encouraging adults of all ages to take the challenge and discover the benefits of adult education during Adult Learners’ Week.
In fact, public libraries provide a wide range of opportunities for lifelong learning all year round, not just during Adult Learners Week.
So why not try/learn something new at your local Public Library this Adult Learners Week?
