So perhaps it’s time for the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement to be given some support. The VHEMT is an environmental movement, founded in 1991, by ‘Les U. Knight’, whose members want people to ‘abstain from reproduction’ to bring about the gradual, voluntary extinction of humankind. In the group’s view, this would prevent environmental degradation and all the damage humans do to the environment. Fortunately,VHEMT’s opponents argue that humans’ ‘reproductive drive’ is pretty hard to stop.
