All three of the Narrabri and District Junior Rugby League internationals teams were victorious on Saturday as the club claimed another clean sweep in the 2020 North West Group 4 Junior Rugby League campaign.
The junior Blues’ three teams all played on Saturday – the 13s away from home against North Tamworth, the 15s a home game against Gunnedah and the 16s a home match against North Tamworth.
At Norths Oval, the NDJRL under-13s team had a convincing 52-16 win over North Tamworth Bears. Nate Browning and Logan Shields both bagged doubles in the 36-point win, while teammates Jack Anderson, David Biles, Toby Galagher, Declan Rooney, Darcy Todd and Fletcher Williams all chipped in with a try a piece. Declan Rooney kicked four conversions to add eight extra points for the Junior Blues while Jack Anderson and Riley Bruce slotted one conversion each.
At home at Collins Park, the NDJRL’s under-15s team scored a 36-30 win against Gunnedah. Ashton Smith added a hat-trick to his impressive try-scoring season to take his tally to 15 four-pointers in six matches and two 20-minute exhibition games which were also played in Gunnedah on August 22. Teammate Cohen Tout added a double and Tim Shields crossed for one try. Jamarl Zarka kicked beautifully with six conversions from as many attempts.
The NDJRL’s under-16s team defeated the Bears 24-4. Joc Ford and Trent White both crossed for doubles and Archer Harrison chipped in with one try. Zack Doring and Gus Smith kicked one conversion each.
