Narrabri Volunteer Rescue Association welcomed teams from around the region to the town for a meeting on Saturday.

Squads came from as far away as Glen Innes and Merriwa for the gathering.

NSW VRA’s director of operations Stuart Green was also present.

Local VRA training officer and deputy captain Harvey Black said the New England region tried to meet a few times a year.

He said the past six months had been quiet for the group due to coronavirus.

“There’s a bit of a nuisance that we can’t really fundraise at the moment,” he said.

“Operationally, we’re ready to go.”

He said training was still being held on a weekly basis.

“We’re ready for whatever might come along,” he said.

“We hope it doesn’t, but we’re ready to help when it does.”

The VRA is always looking out for new members, Mr Black added.

If you are interested in joining the squad, you can contact Mr Black on 0427 254 374 or visit the rescue station on a Thursday night.
