Narrabri Junior Rugby Club was represented by four teams in plate deciders in Tamworth at last Friday’s North West Regional Youth Rugby grand final evening.

Matches were played at Scully Park and Chillingworth Oval as a memorable 2020 junior rugby season came to an end.

There was a lot for Narrabri fans to cheer about, with the junior Blue Boars girls’ teams winning their respective grand finals.

It was a remarkable way to conclude the two sides’ first season in the Friday night competition.

The under-14s girls defeated Armidale Secondary College 29-12 at Scully Park in a plate semi-final to qualify for the decider.

The side then challenged Coonabarabran at Chillingworth Oval in the decider and won 19-12 in a golden point extra time after the score was locked 12-all at full time.

The under-16s girls scored a 26-10 semi-final win at Scully Park against Presbyterian Ladies’ College, Armidale, to qualify for the plate final against Pirates.

That match was also played at Scully Park, and was won by Narrabri 19-12.

The two boys’ sides both went down in their respective grand finals at Chillingworth Oval.

Both challenged Calrossy, with the under-14s losing 31-27 before the 16s were defeated 32-0.
