Wee Waa Show Society held its annual general meeting last Thursday night at The Imperial Hotel and welcomed new president Gary Hibbens as well as some new committee members.
Mr Hibbens said he was thrilled to take on the role.
“I’m very excited by the opportunity,” said Mr Hibbens.
“We’ve got a long legacy behind us and I want to try and move that into the 21st century.
“It’s a great opportunity and great to be backed by such a strong committee.”
Wee Waa Show is a highlight on the district calendar every year but like many other events was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions.
However, Mr Hibbens said the committee is gearing up for next year’s show due to be held in May 2021.
“I’m very pleased to be planning for the show next year, the silver lining is we’ve had a chance to regroup and the show will come back bigger and better than before.”
There was an enthusiastic and motivated crowd in attendance at the AGM.
Marty Haire thanked outgoing president Brett Dickinson for his hard work and commitment over the last few years and Sue Smith thanked Rachel Waals for doing a great job as secretary – a very demanding and critical role.
