Narrabri District Cricket Association’s 2020-21 season will get underway on Friday, October 9, with second grade T20 matches.
There will be two matches played – one at Collins Park and the other at Hogan Oval – to begin the club-based competition.
Two more second grade T20 games will be contested the following night at those same venues.
While the second grade players will pull on the coloured clothing on opening weekend, first graders will don the whites.
The first grade campaign will begin with round one of the one day competition which will include a grand final rematch contested between Tatts and the Western Razorbacks. RSL and Civeo will go head-to-head in the other match.
The second grade one day season will start on Saturday, October 17.
NDCA treasurer Luke Meppem told The Courier that the association was excited to begin the season with a huge weekend of cricket, and said that scheduling second grade T20 matches at the start of the season would erase the need for teams to play two matches in a day in high temperatures in January as they have previously had to.
The second grade T20 competition will resume in January and will culminate in a grand final on Saturday, January 23.
The 2020-21 NDCA season will see the return of the successful Coates Hire Namoi Super Slog T20 competition.
That four-team premier short format competition was introduced last season in place of the first grade club-based T20 comp. It will begin in December.
The Super Slog grand final will be played on either Friday or Saturday, January 29 or 30, which is yet to be confirmed by the NDCA.
