Narrabri District Cricket Association’s round one plans have been thrown into disarray as a result of the Collins Park, Hogan Oval and Leitch Oval pitches not yet being up to scratch.

The NDCA’s 2020-21 season was scheduled to begin on Friday night with second grade T20 games, followed by first grade one day games on Saturday afternoon then more second grade T20 matches on Saturday night.

However, lack of preparation time for Narrabri Shire Council and the NDCA curators following an extended winter sport season made it almost impossible to prepare match-ready pitches for this weekend.

The NDCA committee met at the Narrabri RSL Club yesterday where it made the decision to postpone the first grade season start and play two second grade T20 games on Saturday afternoon on synthetic pitches.

The new start date for the first grade competition is Saturday, October 17. On that day, Tatts and Civeo will meet at Collins Park while RSL and the Western Razorbacks go head-to-head at Hogan Oval.

The originally scheduled round one first grade games will now be played on Saturday, January 30, as round 11 games the day after the Super Slog T20 competition grand final.

Saturday’s second grade T20 matches will both be played at Cooma Oval from 1pm. In those games, Civeo will play against clubmates Tourist Hotel while Tatts takes on the Western Razorbacks. RSL has the bye.

The NDCA advised that the originally scheduled round one T20 games must be played before Christmas, on a date agreed upon by the clubs involved in the respective fixtures. Those matches are between the Razorbacks and Tourist Hotel, and RSL and Civeo.
