Glennis Godden, Di Chessells and Cecile are the Narrabri Women’s Bowling Club’s Triples champions for 2020.

The trio defeated Carolynne Tomlinson, Jan Etheridge and Berice Eather at the Narrabri Sporties’s John McNamara Owen Campey Green last Thursday.

Cecile’s team got off to great start and were leading Eather’s team 23-7 after 14 ends. Eather’s team then fought back, scoring 10 points to two across the last seven ends, but the final score after playing 21 ends was 25-17 to Cecile’s team.

Ladies’ Club Fours was played on Saturday.

Denise Wall, Ronnie Dewar, Debbie Gleeson (sub Mary Wheeler) and Lorraine Scott narrowly defeated Glennis Godden, Di Chessells, Janet Coleman, Gail Panton (sub Cecile) 16-12. The score was 15-12 with one end to play. Coleman’s team was holding three on the last end to even the score but Scott had one bowl to go and drew shot to win the game 16-12.

Pat Sheils, Jan Etheridge, Lyn Tuckey and Beryl Regan also had a close win over Helen Woodward, Dawn Armstrong, Cindy Neil and Eva Sadler (sub Heather Caton). Neil’s team was leading 18-12 on the 17th end, but Regan’s team scored nine points across the last four ends to take the game 21-18.

Social bowls was played on October 8.

Lesley Price, Ronnie Dewar and Sue Solomon defeated Leslie Anderson, Cindy Neil and Beryl Regan 20-13. Pat Sheils and Kay Carolan defeated Janet Coleman and Yvonne Hardman 15-9. Carol Demamiel and Helen Woodward defeated Marie Redman and Lyn Tuckey 18-9.

Club Fours semi-finals will be played this Saturday. Marie Redman, Lyn Wedesweiler, Val Falkiner and Rhonda Welchman will take on Pat Sheils, Jan Etheridge, Lyn Tuckey and Beryl Regan, while Carol Demamiel, Gloria Campey, Berice Eather and Kay Carolan meet Denise Wall, Ronnie Dewar, Debbie Gleeson and Lorraine Scott.

On Thursday, October 22, a ladies’ trophy day will be held at Narrabri Sporties. Lady bowlers have been asked to wear their uniform.
