It is the year of big events. One is the completion in December of the Pacific Highway, Australia’s biggest ever regional road project. The $15 billion upgrade by the state and federal governments has taken 20 years. The road accident death toll has been reduced by 50 per cent since the entire length of the highway was made a four-lane dual carriageway.T
