Free-flowing, attacking touch footy was on show at Cooma Oval on Monday evening with more than 100 tries scored in the second round of the 2020-21 Narrabri Touch Inc summer campaign.

The six ladies’ games contributed 63 of those while the five men’s games chipped in with the other 40.

In the ladies’ competition, Redbacks downed Phoenix Two390 6-3, Blue Birds outscored OneDay Gals 13-0, Specialised Civil beat The Emasculators 13-2, Agies Ladies registered the biggest win of the round when it scored 15 tries while keeping a clean sheet against RSL Roulettes, Xtra defeated Hounddogs 4-1, and BPR-Tourist Hotel claimed a 5-1 victory against The Rippers.

In the men’s competition, Damien Chiplin Plumbing beat Cougars 4-1, Platform X Studio overcame DTA Lumberjacks 4-2, Stylies defeated Mowley’s Maniacs 6-3, Grumley Builders outscored Win or Booze 8-3, and Gee Bangers downed Ballbusters 7-2.

In the ladies competition, Agies Ladies continued its dominance with another big win to start the season having scored 27 tries and conceded none in its first two games. In its 15-0 round two win against RSL Roulettes, Bella Cruickshank and Alisha Conomos both crossed for six tries each, Tashanny Clark bagged a double and Teagan Conomos scored a try.

Redbacks have also started its season with two wins. In a 6-3 victory against Phoenix Two390, Tori Allison went over for a hat-trick of tries, and teammates Georgie Hancock, Shannon Rily and April Leggett chipped in with a try each. Phoenix Two390’s Holly Ford scored two tries and teammate Meika Foley crossed once.

Blue Birds continued a dominant start to the season with its second consecutive win. Its 13-0 victory against OneDay Gals saw it begin the season having crossed for 19 tries while only conceding one. Lidia McCauley (pictured left)claimed a hat-trick of tries and five teammates, Grace Hardman, Georgia Hardman, Lara Richardson, Clariese Ryman and Anni Wenner, all bagged doubles.

Specialised Civil became the fourth ladies’ team to start its season with two straight wins when it downed The Emasculators 13-2 in round two. Specialised Civil has crossed for 21 tries in its first two matches while only conceding two. In its round two win, Natalia Smith claimed four tries, Jessie Schwager, Abby McClure and Sophie McFarland went over for two tries each and the other three were shared between Laura Baguley, Alex Hall and Clare Larkin. The Emasculators’ two tries were scored by Sophie Jarold and Onika McConnell.

A fifth ladies’ team made it two from two to start the season when Xtra downed Hounddogs 4-1. Emma Cain crossed twice for Xtra, and teammates Jess Craig and Mereka Gleeson added a try each. Hounddogs’ try was scored by Meckenzie Gordon.

In the final ladies’ game of the round, BPR-Tourist scored its first win of the season. It bounced back from a one-point opening round loss to beat The Rippers 5-1 in round two. BPR-Tourist’s Leisa Eather bagged a double and teammates Lisa Macrae, Fiona Redfern and Jasmine Wheeler all went over once each. The Rippers’ try was scored by Ruby Stewart.

In the men’s competition, Damien Chiplin Plumbing scored its second straight win to start the season when it downed Cougars 4-1. Damien Chiplin Plumbing’s four tries were shared between Blake Hilderson, Jayden Hayne, Ryan O’Neill and Toby Keys. The side has piled on 13 tries in its first two games while conceding just twice. Cougars’ try in that game was scored by Kurt Wallace.

Platform X Studios bounced back from a one-point round one loss to score its first win of the new campaign in round two. It downed DTA Lumberjacks 4-2, with Isaiah Cochrane, Brenton Cochrane, Craig Gleeson and Jacob Nichols all going in for a try each. DTA Lumberjacks duo Clayton Pursche and Lachlann Thorn scored their team’s tries.

Stylies also scored its first win of the season on Monday. It put a 9-1 round one loss behind it and scored a 6-3 victory against Mowley’s Maniacs. Jeremy Saunders and Aaron Stoltenberg both bagged doubles for Stylies, while teammates Paul Bushby and Michael Haire chipped in with a try each. Mowley’s Maniacs’ three tries were shared between Josh Trindall and Zack and Brock Mallows.

The champions of the past two seasons in which a grand final was contested, Grumley Builders, scored its second consecutive win of the season when it downed Win or Booze 8-3. Grumley Builders has scored 17 tries in its first two games while conceding three. Tom Nolan crossed for two tries in his team’s round two win, while teammates Nick Anderson, Jacob Booby, Ethan Brown, Hamish Duncan, Jydon Hill and Luke Tuckey all chipped in with a try. Win or Booze’s three tries were shared between Connor Hill, Brock Schwager and Lachlan Trindall.

The third men’s side to win its second straight game and remain undefeated was Gee Bangers which won its round two game 7-2 against Ballbusters. Gee Bangers’ Michael Cain, Damon Gleeson and James Thomas all bagged doubles while teammate Nathan Nott scored the other try. Ballbusters’ Geoff Artis and Ken Nolan chipped in with a try each for their team.
